About

Zack Schomp is an artist who works primarily with a camera, utilizing traditional gelatin silver printing, projection and installation as his primary strategies of presentation. His career spans work in the Bay Area as an artist, educator, archivist, studio manager and as a fine art printer - both darkroom and digital - over the last decade. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for PhotoAlliance in San Francisco and on the Advisory Committee for the Santa Rosa Junior College Applied Photography Program.

Zack’s most recent work focuses on West Sonoma County where he was raised and recently returned to live. His images cast a wide net and include controlled burns, landscapes, and domestic life, with an intention of breathing life back into the nature at his doorstep and the climate challenges entailed therein. The project presented itself when in 2020 he and his wife returned to live back home in the North Bay and welcomed their daughter into the world.
