Nash Bellows

Nash Bellows grew up in Huntington Beach, a small surf town in Southern California. She spent her childhood in the ocean with neon bikini clad locals and tourists, as well as playing computer games and watching cartoons under giant quilts crafted by her great-grandmother. Those elements of landscape, technology, pattern, craft, and color are the underlying aesthetic and conceptual themes in her abstract paintings, collages, and digital drawings. With these pieces, she asks the viewers to question the surrounding ideologies and qualifications of High and Low art by using color, form, and imagery stemming from pop culture. Bellows found her love of color and painting in her final semesters of studying printmaking at Sonoma State University. She continued painting at San Francisco State where she received her Masters of Fine Arts. Currently, she is living in Council Bluffs, Iowa and working in Omaha, Nebraska.
